Real Madrid's Argentine midfielder Fernando Gago will be out of action for another three weeks, the Spanish league leaders said on Tuesday.
Tests have revealed that the internal lateral ligament in his left knee is still badly twisted, though he will not have to undergo an operation.
Gago, 24, has not played all season because of his troubled knee. He will find it difficult to get into the first team when finally fit because Jose Mourinho seems to have found a settled starting line-up.
Real are one point ahead of Barcelona at the top of La Liga, and well placed to reach the round of 16 of the Champions League.
Real's other injury victims at the moment are playmaker Kaka and defender Ezequiel Garay.
