Bayer Leverkusen officials have confirmed that Germany goalkeeper Rene Adler
has a buy-out clause in his contract.
Adler, who was Germany's number one
goalkeeper before having to withdraw from their World Cup squad with an injury,
could move to Manchester United for a certain amount.
"Yes, that is
right. He was watched, but I do not have any sleepless nights over the issue,"
Bayer CEO Wolfgang Holzhaeuser is quoted in Bild am Sonntag.
Earlier a
Cologne newspaper reported that the Premier League club was looking at buying
Adler to replace Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Saar, who is retiring at the end
of the season.
